New academic platform for globalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine: Longhua Hospital Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine signed strategic cooperation agreement with AME Publishing Company to start a journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine
A signing ceremony was held in Shanghai between the Longhua Hospital Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the AME Publishing Company on the morning of October 31, 2017, initiating their joint efforts to establish an international peer-reviewed journal, Longhua Chinese Medicine (LCM) (Figure 1). The ceremony was attended by Dr. Zhen Xiao, the President of Longhua Hospital; Dr. Peiyong Zheng, Vice President of Longhua Hospital; Dr. Ji Li, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Longhua Hospital; Mr. Hao Chen, Director of Public Relationship Department; Ms. Wenjun Zhou, Assistant to Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Longhua Hospital; Mr. Daoyuan Wang, the Founder & CEO of AME Publishing Company; Dr. Zhigang Cao, Vice Director of AME Publishing Company; Ms. Sanhua Wang, Director of AME Shanghai Office; and Ms. Fen Xiong, AME project director (Figure 2).
According to the Healthy China Initiative proposed in President Jinping Xi’s report at 19th CPC National Congress, the CPC and Chinese government “will support both Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western medicine, ensuring the preservation and development of Traditional Chinese Medicine.” Based on AME’s rich experiences in publishing international peer-reviewed journals, the strong partnership between Longhua Hospital Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and AME will ensure LCM a great success and further achieve the globalization of TCM. Focusing on basic, clinical research, and translational medicine in TCM, LCM is committed to serving as an international academic exchange platform and increasing the international impact of Longhua Hospital. Aiming to become a leading TCM journal with international prestige, LCM will help introduce TCM to the world and support the “Belt and Road Initiative.”
The signing ceremony was chaired by Dr. Peiyong Zheng. Firstly, Dr. Zhen Xiao, the President of Longhua Hospital gave a brief introduction to the history and strength of Longhua Hospital (Figure 3). “Longhua Hospital has made long and tremendous efforts in adhering to TCM characteristics, enriching TCM connotations, and carrying out clinical research with outstanding achievements. In recent years, the scientific and technical impacts of our hospital are continuously increasing along with the construction of the National TCM Clinical Research Center,” Dr. Xiao said. Mr. Daoyuan Wang, the Founder & CEO of AME Publishing Company, also introduced AME to the participants (Figure 4). AME has long been focused on the publication of international medical journals/books and the promotion of medical research information. AME has published more than 50 peer-reviewed journals (6 indexed in SCIE and 18 indexed in PubMed), covering various fields of medicine, including oncology, cardiothoracic diseases, chest diseases, surgery, and endocrinology. LCM is the 50th journal and also the first TCM journal founded by AME. Therefore, it is a milestone for AME in scientific publishing. Both parties expressed a good vision for the launch of this journal and determined to run LCM as an internationally influential and authoritative TCM journal that further facilitates the globalization of TCM.

About Longhua Hospital Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Founded in July 1960, Longhua Hospital Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the four earliest TCM clinical centers in China. Over 50 years, Longhua Hospital has been dedicated to the development of TCM and is known nationwide for outstanding patient care provided by its physicians and staff. With the distinguishing feature and prominent advantage of TCM, Longhua Hospital serves as a famous TCM center that combines health care, teaching, and scientific research. It has been rated as a national model TCM hospital and a grade A tertiary hospital. Longhua Hospital has been granted consecutively as Shanghai Civilization Unit for 13 times. In 2007, the hospital received the National Health System Advanced Institution Award. In 2008, the National Development and Reform Commission and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine accredited the hospital as National TCM Clinical Research Base. In 2009, it became a distinguished professor appointment unit in the Ministry of Education “Cheung Kong Scholar” program. In 2012, during the re-accreditation of TCM hospitals, Longhua Hospital ranked 1st among all the grade A tertiary TCM hospitals in China. In 2015, the hospital won the honorable title of “National Civilization Institution” (the fourth session).
