Dr. Namie Okino Sawada is a professor of the Nursing Surgical discipline of the General and Specialized Nursing Department of the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing. Her researches are related to the evaluation of the health-related quality of life of cancer patients. She also develops clinical research with Complementary Therapies and leads the Research Group GERPCO (Study Group Rehabilitation of the Surgical and Oncology Patient); which has developed research in the area of oncology, cross-cultural adaptation of measurement instruments, evidence-based practice, complementary therapies, and health-related quality of life. Dr. Sawada is the author of more than 100 scientific articles in periodicals indexed with selective editorial staff, as well as 4 chapters of books. Furthermore, she was invited to write one chapter about Quality of life of cancer patients after acupuncture and moxibustion treatment in the book Acupuncture and moxibustion as an evidence-based therapy for cancer.
